It's hard to keep up with where Hare is now but we recently received the below snapshot!

Every once in a while we come across some really great stories about diaper bags that have been thru it all, this one in particular was written by Susan Elmslie, a writer and a teacher who lives in Montreal. Her first trade collection of poetry, *I, Nadja, and Other Poems" (Brick, 2006) won the A.M. Klein Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for the McAuslan First Book Prize, the Pat Lowther Memorial Award and a ReLit Award.
Here is an except (and picture) from the tale of the amazing diaper bag:
"At times the [Skip Hop] bag has been so tightly packed that you practically need a crowbar to pry a diaper out. One anecdote bears telling here. When we went on a calèche ride in Old Montreal and the bag (which I’d set on the floor of the horse-drawn carriage) was, unnoticed by us, up-ended along the way, and was lodged upside-down between the rear fender and the step, hanging that way for a good cobble-stoned block or so, the entire contents should have spilled out into the street. But incredibly, only one thing—a pack of Kleenex?—fell out. A German tourist ran after the carriage to return the dropped item and alert us to the dangling bag."

"Earlier this winter, my wife and I took our girls, 4 and 1 to lunch at a shawarma place called Golan Heights in Washington Heights. We had our trusted Skip Hop bag for our toddler. After lunch we went to a nearby playground, and then back to the restaurant as the older girl needed to use the bathroom. Somehow in all the confusion, we noticed later in the day that our Skip Hop bag had disappeared. Thinking it was left at the playground, we assumed that it was long gone. I thought of dropping by or calling the restaurant, but as time passed I assumed that it would be less and less likely to be found.
About a month later, we found ourselves in Washington Heights one evening to run an errand. Since I hadn't eaten and was in the mood for shawarma, I pulled the car in front of Golan Heights while my wife went in. I told her to ask for the Skip Hop bag since we had nothing to lose. A few minutes later, she came out with the bag, and I could hardly believe it! Apparently, the front window of the store was a collection area for forgotten backpacks and other types of bags as there are a lot of students in that area. The Skip Hop bag had been there the whole time! It was such a treat to get it back as we had been improvising tote bags and plastic bags to use as diaper bags ... and of course had been forgetting and losing those as well. Now that we are reunited with our Skip Hop, we are putting it to good use, and keeping very close track of it."
